In the last readings, the main question brought in discussion was "Is language necessary?" In these two articles, you observe, through language you can transport yourself into the most memorable moments in a persons life.
On the day of June 7, 2014, my alarm rang at 6:30 A.M awakening my grandmother,my mom and little sister in the hotel room. I rushed to the shower to get in before anyone else. When I got out the room was filled with the aroma of coffee and burnt hair. This was a big day, and we knew there were pictures to be taken so we were all in each others way. My little sister was hogging mirror space and my grandmother was watching the news on the television way louder than it needed to be. My other kept nagging to me "Did you iron your gown? Did you practice the prayer? Are you nervous sweetie? I'm so proud of you!" I smiled at her "Yes." Then continued to get dressed . In that moment I knew today would be one of the greatest accomplishments of my life. Soon after, we checked out of the hotel on our way to Reed Arena. The traffic was bumper to bumper yet it moved swiftly. Everyone in the car was quiet as we pulled into the parking garage. "Pictures!" my mom shouted as we walked toward the building The sun beamed on my face as I placed my cap onto my head. In the meantime my mother must have snapped 1,000 pictures before I walked in the door. As I stood in a room full of my classmates I felt as if i were alone, like my world paused to remember the details of this milestone in my life. My nerves were alive at this point. Then I heard the music playing getting louder as I walked. When we were finally inside, I looked up at the sea of people staring down on us Then I slowly veered onto the stage. The five of us students sat there on stage waiting for everyone to be seated with the bright lights beaming in our eyes. I turned to each of my friends with a huge smile on my face and said, "This is it!"
