Compare and Contrast
Both Morisson and Wallace speeches talk about death, but in different ways. Wallace talks about a fish and how the wise fish tells them what water is while Morisson talks about a wise old woman in a book she has read. Also Wallace uses first person on his speech and moves to third person, while Morisson uses third person. In both speeches death is mentioned. In Wallace's speech he talks about kids buying guns and committing suicide, while in Morisson's speech death is mentioned with the bird and the African-American. Wallace talks about his child hood and how he overcame tough decisions and complicated things. Morisson made references to a book she read when she was little. Also Wallace talked about real world experiences he had like when he was in college. He did also give an example about the grocery store incident with the tough job and how to act normal. In the end both speeches talked about society and how different people view it. Wallace views it as not happy and a society where everyone hates each other. Morrison also views an unhappy society, but when in a team the society changes and becomes happy.
